The Basics
Understanding Raw Hair
What is raw hair?
Raw hair is 100% unprocessed human hair collected directly from a single donor. It has never been chemically treated, dyed, or steam-processed. This means the cuticles are fully intact and running in the same direction — giving you hair that's stronger, more durable, and more versatile than processed or Remy alternatives. Raw hair can be colored, bleached, and styled repeatedly while maintaining its integrity.
What's the difference between raw Vietnamese, raw Indian, and raw Cambodian hair?
All three are single-donor, unprocessed, and high quality — but each has its own distinct natural texture.
- Raw Vietnamese hair tends to be silkier, finer, and naturally straight or wavy. It blends beautifully with most hair types and holds color exceptionally well, including blonde.
- Raw Indian hair is naturally thicker with more body and movement. Our Raw Indian Body Wave has a gorgeous natural wave pattern that lasts wash after wash.
- Raw Cambodian hair is known for its density, softness, and natural luster. It sits between Vietnamese and Indian in terms of thickness — versatile enough to wear straight, wavy, or curly, and holds styles exceptionally well. It is one of the most sought-after raw hair types for its durability and natural fullness.
How long does raw hair last?
With proper care, raw hair can last 2–5 years or longer. Because it is unprocessed and single-donor, it responds to care the same way your natural hair does. The better you treat it, the longer it lasts.
Why does my hair look slightly different from what I've seen online?
Because our hair is 100% raw and single-donor, no two bundles are exactly identical — and that is a feature, not a flaw. Raw hair reflects the natural characteristics of the person it came from: slight variations in wave pattern, density, or strand thickness are completely normal and expected. This is what separates genuine raw hair from processed or factory-standardized alternatives. What you are receiving is real, unaltered human hair in its most authentic form. These natural variations do not affect the quality, longevity, or performance of your hair.
Can raw hair be colored or bleached?
Yes. Raw hair is one of the few hair types that can safely withstand coloring and bleaching. We always recommend having color services done by a licensed professional to preserve the integrity of the hair and your investment.
Hair Care
How to Care for Your Raw Hair
How do I wash my raw hair extensions?
Wash your hair every 1–2 weeks or as needed. Follow these steps:
- Detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb before washing, starting from the ends and working up
- Use a sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoo — never scrub or pile hair on top of itself
- Apply conditioner from mid-shaft to ends and let it sit for 3–5 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water (hot water strips moisture)
- Pat dry gently with a microfiber towel — never rub or wring
How should I dry my raw hair?
Air drying is always the gentlest option. If you use a blow dryer, apply a heat protectant first and use a low or medium heat setting. Avoid going to bed with wet hair — sleeping on wet extensions can lead to tangling and matting at the weft.
How do I keep my raw hair from tangling?
- Always detangle before washing and before bed
- Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristle brush — never a fine-tooth comb on wet hair
- Apply a light leave-in conditioner or hair oil (argan or jojoba work well) to keep hair moisturized
- Braid or loosely twist your hair at night and use a silk or satin bonnet or pillowcase
- Avoid excess friction from cotton fabrics
Can I use heat on raw hair?
Yes — raw hair handles heat well. Always apply a quality heat protectant before using flat irons, curling wands, or blow dryers. Keep tools at or below 400°F for best results. Excessive heat over time will reduce the hair's lifespan, so use heat styling as needed rather than daily.
What products should I use on raw hair?
Use products that are sulfate-free and alcohol-free. Raw hair benefits from moisture, so look for:
- Sulfate-free, hydrating shampoos
- Deep conditioning treatments once or twice a month
- Lightweight oils (argan, jojoba, castor) to seal moisture and add shine
- A good heat protectant spray before any heat styling
My hair shed a little when I first received it — is that normal?
Minimal shedding when you first unpack or install extensions is completely normal. Raw hair is hand-wefted and may release a small number of loose strands initially. This will taper off after the first wash. Excessive shedding after installation is typically related to install method — consult your stylist.
